Whanaungatanga
Hākinakina
Hākinakina is, at its heart, about whanaungatanga.
Bringing people together, fostering inclusion, connection, and encouraging participation through play in a vibrant te ao Māori environment.
It is about creating space where there is truly something for everyone.
Hākinakina 2026
This year’s event captured the spirit of Hākinakina perfectly. It was a fun and successful day, filled not only with exciting netball and touch rugby, but also enriched by incredible kapa haka performances.
We are proud to recognise and celebrate those who shone on the day.
Ngā mihi nui to Te Au KITA for your dedication in refereeing the Touch Rugby and the many volunteers who umpired netball—your mahi is truly appreciated and played a vital role in the success of the day.
A special thank you also to Katera Maihi (Toitu Design) for the stunning trophy, a beautiful contribution that added to the spirit and celebration of the event.
Grateful thanks to our wonderful DJ Dan and MC Gabrielle Paikea for keeping the vibes high and our sponsors Kaiwaka 4 Square, Sport Northland, Te Ha Oranga and Waireti Violet.
